Her lip wibbled a bit, and she drank some more. “Vaddy’s gonna go back t’ Winterhold ‘n I’m not gonna see ‘im ‘n he’s gonna die.”
Evangeline immediately sobered, and quickly, gently, pushed the mug away from her friend. ”Kae..” She hesitated. She didn’t know what to say, so instead, she put her arms around the Bosmer and gave her forehead a kiss. ”C’mon,” She said after a moment. ”We can go sit by the docks and talk for a while. And you can tell me everything you want to tell.” She got to her feet, and offered the Bosmer her hand, voice soft. ”Come on.”
She sighed and sat there for a moment, then nodded and got to her feet, wobbling a bit. “Jus’ don’t let me fall in th’ lake.”
“Never,” She promised. ”And if you do, that’s alright. I’m a fair enough swimmer. You can put your arm around me if you need to,” She added as they walked. ”I’m sure no one will give it a second thought..” She was quiet as they walked to to the docks, and, after making sure Kaeshira was safely seated, she pulled off her boots and sat, her toes skimming the water. ”… You said Vadril is going to Winterhold,” She began, a comforting arm wrapped around Kae’s shoulders. ”Why?”
Kaeshira stared down at her reflection in the water and frowned a bit. “He’s gotta go back ‘n work on his research. But I doh’t want ‘im to go.” She placed her chin in her hands. “He’s gonna go ‘n stay there ‘n he’s gonna die ‘n I’m never gonna see ‘im again.”
